Carolina Caroline

Caroline (Samara Weaving) and Oliver (Kyle Gallner) are a late-20th century Bonnie and Clyde, with the former embracing the crime-on-the-run lifestyle of the latter soon after he strolls into the Texas gas station where she works. The couple makes love and commits larceny across the South, riding the heady highs of their spree until one of them grows a conscience. Though it’s a familiar tale, IndieWire commends this telling for being “unexpectedly emotional,” as the characters experience, “distress (that) curdles into shared heartbreak and grief as they slowly reach clarity.”
